Goals and objectives

  • Due to the forecasted long lifetime of the 28 FD-SOI technology platforms, an important R&D work is required to improve and tune their performance and to propose new options in order to better address in the next 5 years mass markets like IoT and Automotive and also smaller markets with high added value like Space market.
  • IoT market will require the possibility to work at lower Vdd, high voltage compatibility for the I/Os and RF components for wireless connection.
  • Automotive market will require full high voltage (5V) compatibility, compatibility of the CMOS process with the eNVM option, RF for integrated radars, better power efficiency and specific reliability and robustness performance.
  • Space market will require hardened IPs, especially qualified by space agencies, and RF components.
  • The developments in WayToGo Fast will aim at qualifying a pilot line for these extensions of the 28-FD SOI platforms.
  • WAYTOGO FAST pilot line activity occurs on two different industrial places
    • ST Crolles fabrication site for the implementation of the CMOS processes;
    • SOITEC Bernin fabrication site to develop and provide the necessary SOI substrates.
  • The overarching goal of WAYTOGO FAST is to provide, thanks to an industrial European consortium covering the full value chain, a sustainable route to FDSOI technology for future CMOS nodes and maintain the European industry leadership in equipment, metrology, materials and IP/Design on this alternative More Moore technology.
  • WAYTOGO FAST targeted products aims to open a sustainable route to FDSOI technology by extending the scope of the 28nm node and supporting the 22/22+ nm nodes.
